Comparison

CaseKit vs Help Scout

These two solve different halves of the same day. Help Scout fixes coordination: who owns this conversation, has someone already replied, where are the shared replies. CaseKit fixes lookup: which Shopify order is this about and what is true about it right now.

Working out which half is actually slowing you down is the whole decision.

Which half is slowing you down?

Your problem is coordination

Help Scout

Two people answer the same email. Nobody knows who owns what. Saved replies live in five different inboxes. Notes get lost in forwarded threads.

A shared inbox with assignment, collision detection, internal notes and shared saved replies solves all of that.

Your problem is lookup

CaseKit

Every order question means opening Shopify, searching the customer, reading the fulfilment block and copying a tracking number back.

A shared inbox does not touch this. Help Scout will show you the ticket beautifully and still not tell you where the parcel is.

If you have both problems

Then Help Scout first, and accept the lookup for now. Coordination failures lose tickets, and a lost ticket costs more than a slow one. CaseKit does not render inside Help Scout today, so it is not a stack you can build right now — and telling you otherwise would waste your time.

Common questions

What is Help Scout?
A shared inbox for small teams that feels closer to email than to a ticket system. It adds assignment, saved replies, notes and reporting on top of a clean inbox, and is popular with teams who find Zendesk heavy.
How is CaseKit different from Help Scout?
Help Scout replaces your inbox and gives you collaboration features: assignment, internal notes, collision detection. CaseKit keeps Gmail and adds the Shopify order and a written reply. If your problem is coordination, Help Scout. If it is order lookup, CaseKit.
Can I use both?
Not usefully today. CaseKit renders in Gmail on the web, so it does not appear inside the Help Scout inbox. If you have already moved to Help Scout, CaseKit is not the right tool for you.
Which is better for a two-person Shopify store?
If the pain is two people replying to the same email, Help Scout. If the pain is opening Shopify for every order question, CaseKit. Be honest about which one is actually costing you time — they are different problems.

Before you migrate, try not migrating

CaseKit adds the Shopify order to the Gmail you already use. Free plan: unlimited lookups and 25 replies a month, about a minute to set up.
