Comparison

CaseKit vs Zendesk

These two products are not really in the same category, and pretending otherwise would not help you decide. Zendesk runs customer service operations. CaseKit makes Shopify order emails faster to answer in Gmail. The useful question is which problem you actually have.

Choose CaseKit if
  • Support is one to three people working in Gmail
  • Shopify order questions dominate your inbox
  • You have no SLA, routing or queue requirements
  • A migration would cost more than the problem it solves
Choose Zendesk if
  • Support is a function with headcount and targets
  • You need omnichannel routing and ticket workflows
  • SLAs, queues and workforce management are required
  • Reporting and analytics drive decisions
  • You need a large integration ecosystem

What three people actually costs

Per-seat pricing compounds. This is list price on annual billing, before AI resolutions or add-ons.

Setup1 person3 peoplePer year, 3 people
Zendesk Support Team$19/mo$57/mo$684
Zendesk Suite Team$55/mo$165/mo$1,980
Zendesk Suite Professional$115/mo$345/mo$4,140
CaseKit Pro$19/mo$19/mo$190 on annual

Zendesk list prices are per agent per month on annual billing; monthly billing costs more and Zendesk does not publish that rate. The Copilot add-on is priced separately per agent, and AI automated resolutions are metered on top. Verified 29 August 2026 — check the official page.

This table is not the argument. Zendesk at $345 a month buys ticketing, routing, SLAs, reporting and an omnichannel workspace. CaseKit at $19 buys order context and replies in Gmail. If you need the first list, the price difference is irrelevant — you need the product that does it.

The threshold question

Rather than a feature grid, here is the question that actually decides it.

Is support a task or a function?

If support is something two or three people do between other work, a ticketing system adds process you have to maintain. If support is a function with headcount, shifts and targets, the absence of ticketing is what hurts.

Is email your only real channel?

Zendesk earns its price when chat, social and voice all land in one queue. If everything arrives as email in Gmail, most of what you would pay for stays switched off.

The cost comparison people get wrong

Comparing $19 with $19 looks like a tie. It is not, in either direction.

Zendesk's entry tier is per agent per month on annual billing and covers ticketing only. Three agents on that plan is three times the sticker, and the Suite tiers that add messaging and AI cost considerably more per seat. AI automated resolutions and add-ons like Copilot are priced separately again.

CaseKit Pro is $19 for the workspace with up to 3 members. But it is also a much narrower product: no ticketing, no routing, no reporting. You are not getting a cheaper Zendesk, you are getting a different thing.

CaseKit and Zendesk: common questions

Is CaseKit a Zendesk alternative?
Only for a specific situation: a small team doing Shopify order support by email in Gmail. Zendesk is a full customer service platform with ticketing, routing, omnichannel and reporting. If you need those, CaseKit is not a substitute and does not claim to be.
How is Zendesk priced?
Per agent per month on annual billing: Support Team at $19 for ticketing only, Suite Team at $55, Suite Professional at $115, with Suite Enterprise quoted by sales. A Copilot add-on is priced separately per agent, and AI automated resolutions are billed on top. Monthly billing costs more than the annual rates. Verified 29 August 2026.
Does Zendesk show Shopify order data?
Yes. Zendesk's Shopify integration can surface customer and order information inside Zendesk, and supports additional Shopify actions depending on setup and plan. The difference is where you are sitting when you see it: a Zendesk ticket, or your Gmail thread.
We already use Zendesk. Can we add CaseKit?
Not today. CaseKit renders in Gmail, not in the Zendesk agent workspace. A Zendesk adapter is on the roadmap and is not available now.
When does moving to Zendesk make sense?
When support becomes an operation rather than a task: multiple channels, defined SLAs, shift coverage, routing rules and reporting that the business depends on. That threshold is real, and CaseKit is built for the stretch before it.
