Feature

Gmail and Shopify, joined per conversation

CaseKit does not sync your mailbox into Shopify or pull your orders into Gmail. It resolves one order for the one conversation you have open, then gets out of the way.

What happens on each conversation

Reads the open conversation

A content-script adapter reads the conversation rendered on your screen: sender address, subject and message text. Not your mailbox.

Resolves against Shopify

The minimum context needed goes to CaseKit's backend, which queries your connected store read-only and returns the order state.

Writes only on request

Nothing enters the composer until you press Insert Reply, and nothing is ever sent.

Why not a Gmail API integration?

Because the restricted scopes that give a tool full mailbox access are a large ask for a feature that only ever needs the conversation on screen.

The Gmail MVP avoids Gmail API restricted scopes. The extension reads what is already rendered in front of you, which keeps the access request proportionate to what the feature does.

Questions about this feature

Is CaseKit a Gmail add-on?
No. It is a Chrome extension. A Gmail add-on runs through Google's add-on framework and needs mailbox permissions; CaseKit renders its panel on the Gmail page you already have open and reads only that conversation.
Does it change how Gmail works?
No. Threading, labels, filters, search, signatures and keyboard shortcuts are untouched. CaseKit adds a panel and, when you press Insert Reply, writes text into the composer.
Can two agents use it on the same shared inbox?
Yes. Each agent installs the extension in their own Chrome profile. On Pro, up to 3 members share a workspace and therefore the same connected store, macros and tone.
What happens on a thread that is not about an order?
CaseKit stays quiet. It is designed to appear when it has something useful to show, not to force an order match onto every conversation.
